Over the past decades, the company has been a major energy supplier in the region, making significant contributions to the development of local communities and the economy.  As one of Mexico's largest oil and gas companies, the company has abundant oil and gas resource reserves, with annual production ranking among the top in the region, and a workforce of over 2,000 employees, making it one of the major large employers in the local area. ZKTeco is honoured to have provided the client with access control, time &  attendance, and video surveillance solutions.

Requirements

Enhancing Security Protection Level

The petroleum company possesses a large amount of high-value equipment, instruments, and oil and gas assets,  and the operating environment involves many potential safety hazards, such as high pressure and flammable gases. If there are any accidental incidents caused by intrusion or power outages, it could lead to production interruptions, affecting the company's normal operations, and increase the risk of accidents for employees, and even result in serious  environmental pollution incidents that threaten the safety of the surrounding communities. Additionally, the petroleum company holds a significant amount of critical business and technical information. If this information is leaked or  misused externally, it could cause serious economic losses and reputational damage to the company. The client hopes  to establish a more secure access control system to effectively prevent the risk of disruption to daily operations.

Enhancing Efficiency of Security Management

In addition to managing employee access, access control management is also an important aspect. The client's enterprise is of a large scale, with thousands of employees entering and leaving the various worksites daily. Although video surveillance cameras are installed at each worksite, security personnel still need to monitor them manually.  Besides the safety risks of errors or oversights, in the event of a security incident, finding the relevant footage would be inconvenient for managing the security event.

Solution

Access Control 

ZKTeco has installed at each main entrance of the client’s  worksites ProID30BM RFID Card Readers and FHT2300 Full-height Turnstiles, for both access control and time &  attendance management. All staffs of different worksites are issued with their personal staff cards, with their personal  information and specific access rights contained. All staffs  are required to swipe their cards upon the ProID30 BM card readers in order to access and exit the worksites. Upon successful authentication, they are allowed to go pass through the FHT2300 turnstiles to access or exit the worksites.

Time & Attendance 

As all the ProID30BM Card Readers and FHT2300 Turnstiles are connected to the ZKBioSecurity Security Management  Software Platform through the Inbio Series Access Controllers, as the accesses and exits of the staffs are received and recorded by the ZKBioSecurity for time & attendance management.

Third-Party Integration – Video Surveillance Monitoring 

Apart from the installation of ProID30BM Card Readers, FHT2300 Turnstiles, InBio Series Access Controllers and ZKBioSecurity, ZKTeco has also seen the existing video surveillance cameras and considered them unnecessary of replacement. Instead of disposal, ZKTeco integrated them with the newly installed access control system via ONVIF protocol. Upon every access and exit, the system automatically triggered the relevant video surveillance cameras to capture images or short clips, for the  convenience of instant inspection and follow up in case any security event occurs.

Advantages 

Safe and Efficient Access Control 

ZKTeco FHT2300 is a full-height turnstile with 222cm height, which completely covers the size of an adult to effectively prevent turnstile jumping and illegal access. Its three-bar rotation access method also effectively ensures singleperson access only, and prevents tailgating. With the installation of ZKTeco FHT2300 Fullheight turnstiles, the security protection level is significantly enhanced. Also, ZKTeco devices’ strong integration capability enables flexible integration with other third-party devices and systems. As the existing video surveillance cameras of the worksites performs proper operation and functions for the convenience of instant inspection and follow up in case any security event occurs.

Strong Reliability and Environmental Adaptability 

Apart from precise and reliable license plate recognition ability, it also requires stable operation of the devices in order  to achieve efficient and reliable management. As the mining sites are located in the outdoor environment, even if the  entrance are covered with roofs, weather and environmental impacts and interference, including rain, sunlight and  dust, could still disable the devices from proper functioning. 

Firstly, the cabinet and barriers of ZKTeco FHT2300 are made of high-spec SUS304 stainless steel, with IP54 waterproof &  dustproof rating. Even when installed in semi-outdoor locations prone to rain and sand interference, FHT2300 Turnstiles are still enabled to operate effectively. Moreover, FHT2300 Turnstiles’ operating temperature and humidity ranges are  -28°C to 60°C and 0% to 95% respectively, allowing them to maintain stable and efficient access control functions even in extreme weather conditions. Additionally, each FHT2300 Turnstile undergoes strict and meticulous testing by ZKTeco before being delivered to the client for use. Its mean time between failures (MTBF) is as high as 200,000 cycles, minimizing the risk of equipment failure. 

In addition to the FHT2300 Turnstile, ZKTeco's ProID30BM Card Reader is also an ideal choice for outdoor environments. It has an IP65 waterproof & dustproof rating, which effectively prevents interference from rain and sand. ProID30BM Card Reader‘s operating temperature and humidity ranges are -10°C to 65°C and 10% to 90% respectively, allowing it to maintain stable and efficient access control functions even in extreme weather conditions.

Easy Installation 

Large size as ZKTeco FHT2300 Full-height Turnstile has, the actual installation process is not complex, as the FHT2300 is a  product designed with a modular concept. The advantage of modular design is that the intricate assembly procedures have already been carried out at the factory, ensuring accurate and precise processes. 

As a result, the main components of the FHT2300 are largely pre-assembled when delivered to the client, which means  that during on-site installation, only a few pre-fabricated parts need to be properly installed, making the process faster  and more time-efficient. It also reduces the impact of weather conditions and site constraints, thereby enhancing the cost-effectiveness of the overall solution.

Flexile Access Control and Time & Attendance Management and Setting

As all the ProID30BM Card Readers, FHT2300 Turnstiles, InBio Access Controllers and the existing third-party video surveillance cameras are connected to the ZKBioSecurity Security Management Software Platform, the client’s security staffs are enabled to directly monitoring the various system on the ZKBioSecurity’s interface. ZKBioSecurity is embedded with different kinds of applied modules, including access control, time & attendance, video surveillance and  others, client thus is enabled to add, edit and delete personnel’s information, manage cards, or even change the access rights, for example, access rights according to different time slots. Time & attendance can also be convenient managed, as the data are also viewable and manageable on the ZKBioSecurity. Moreover, security staffs could also monitor  every camera’s real-time livestreams, and view relevant recording. ZKBioSecurity also enables flexible setting of video surveillance, for example, recording photos only at certain spots, while recording video clips at other specific spots.

Flexibility for Future Extension of Functions

One of the major advantages of ZKTeco's products and services is that the cost-effectiveness for the client is an important consideration in the design concept. As a result, their solutions can be flexibly integrated with different  systems, including ZKTeco's own products, as well as the client's existing third-party equipment or systems. In this solution, the client's video surveillance camera system has been retained and used to enhance the security of the access control system. Furthermore, even if future requirements change, ZKTeco's equipment and systems can be  integrated with a wide range of different devices. For example, to further improve the accuracy of identity verification,  biometric authentication devices can be integrated with the turnstiles, without the need for a complete system replacement, significantly maximizing the cost-effectiveness of the overall solution.
