The new data centre of UNN was built for data hosting, IT services and infrastructures for the government and private businesses in Brunei. The new data centre increases the capacity of the services provided in geo-redundancy, consolidating and modernizing all the transferred networks, delivering highly resilient and quality services to the entire nation.

Requirement

Reliable Security Protection

UNN has materials highly valuable and confidential that require extra-strict protection, and is expected to have a reliable security and access control. Also, with numerous employees, a precise identity verification method that can effectively enhancing human resources efficiency. However, ensuring reliable access control is only the requisite of true security protection, as the ultimate goal of a security system is to enhance the security level, which requires instant and complete understanding of the scenario, and quickest solution of security challenges.

Solution Details

Access Control

ZKTeco installed SpeedFace-V3L Hybrid-biometric Identity Authentication Standalone Terminals at the main entrances of the data centre for access control. For other access points inside the data centre, ZKTeco installed ProID BM30 RFID Card Readers for access control. Each staff is issued a staff card, which contains the staff’s personal information for the verification of  identity, they are enabled to swipe the card for access and exit. All the terminals and readers are connected to InBio Pro 160 and InBio Pro 260 Access Controllers, which are connected to the ZKBioSecurity Comprehensive Security Platform Software for centralized management of access control.

Video Surveillance

At the main entrance of the data centre, all access points, and numerous different points which require security monitoring, ZKTeco deployed DL-855P28B-S7 Speed-dome Cameras, and BL-855P48A-S7 Bullet Cameras for video surveillance use. All Cameras are connected to Z8564NHR Network Video Recorders for video processing and analysis. All the cameras and network video recorders are also connected to the ZKBioSecurity for centralized management of video surveillance.

Proactive Security Monitoring 

As the access control management system has been integrated with the video surveillance system. In case any abnormality of security is detected, for example, illegal tailgating, the specific video surveillance cameras will be instantly triggered to notify the security staffs and provide live video for immediate further actions. Also, the relevant cameras will automatically save the videos of the abnormality to the database for follow-up inspections. MStar Pro Series Video Surveillance Cameras offer event alarms and information push functions for various scenario applications, the notifications will be promptly delivered via email, sound, buzz and alarm to the connected ZKBioSecurity, AntarView Pro+ Mobile App. and AntarVis 2.0 Video Management System. Z8564NHR Network Video Recorder offer smart functions including line-crossing detection, target detection, lost item detection, area detection and scene switch etc. The interface including video screens, notifications, alarms and settings can be operated and managed at the ZKBioSecurity, which are displayed on ZKTeco’s ZD43-4K-P 43-inch Ultra-HD LED Monitor and ZK22-2K 21.5-inch  Full-HD LED Monitor.

High-quality Security Monitoring

DL-855P28B-S7 Speed-dome Cameras, and BL-855P48A-S7 Bullet Cameras are the project-level models of ZKTeco’s MStar Pro Series, which are designed for high-end professional projects, with resolution as high as 5,000,000 pixels, enabling ideal monitoring videos under indoor, outdoor and day and night. Z8564NHR Network Video Recorder offers advanced Video Quality Diagnostic function, which actively monitors the quality of video, and supports 4K resolution of video, enabling effective integration with the video surveillance cameras for ultimately clear security monitoring. Z8564NHR Network Video Recorder also provides advanced H.265+ Decoding, which effectively reduces the  bandwidth of code streams to save storage space. ZKTeco’s ZD43-4K-P 43-inch Ultra-HD LED Monitor and ZK22-2K 21.5-inch Full-HD LED Monitor offer 4K resolutions for further enhanced preciseness of security monitoring.

Outstanding Cost Effectiveness

The deployed video surveillance cameras at different spots in the data centre are required to transmit instant video data to the network video recorders for recording and analysis, and to ZKBioSecurity for access control  integration and management. Thus, apart from power supply, it is also required to wire up for data transmission.  ZKTeco connected all the cameras to the PE242-300-G Power-over-Ethernet (PoE) Switch via PoE, which  simultaneously transmits network data and power, and connect the switch to Z8564NHR Network Video Recorders for video processing and analysis. The advantage of the solution is that, it does not required both power supply and data transmission wiring, which simplified the wiring and maximized the cost of installation.  Also, with PE242-300-G PoE Switch, centralized management of both power supply and data transmission is achieved for enhanced convenience and efficiency of security monitoring.
