Unitel is the leading telecommunications brand in Laos, holding over 50% of the market share and playing a key role in the development of the country's information technology infrastructure. Its headquarters are located in the Unitel Building – a modern landmark situated in the heart of Vientiane, the capital city of Laos. Unitel is a joint venture between Viettel Group (Vietnam) and Lao Asia Telecom (Laos), representing a strategic partnership between the two nations in the telecommunications sector. With its large scale and contemporary design, the Unitel Building also serves as a regular venue for major technology events and international conferences in Laos.
With the goal of improving security management efficiency and optimizing the entry and exit experience for employees and visitors, the Unitel Building Management Board (Laos) proposed to deploy a smart entrance control system, applying facial recognition technology combined with QR codes. The system needs to ensure fast, accurate recognition and stable operation in all conditions, especially during peak hours.
The requirement is to build a synchronous, modern solution with a system that can flexibly integrate with comprehensive management software, support monitoring, access authorization and full data storage.
At the main lobby area before the elevator access of Unitel Building (Laos), ZKTeco has implemented a modern entrance control system featuring Swing Barrier gates SBTL300 & SBTL320, integrated with the G5[QR] smart access terminal that supports facial recognition, RFID cards, and QR code verification. The system requires all employees and visitors to pass through the turnstile and authenticate their identity before entering the building.
Upon approaching the gate, the G5[QR] device conducts identity verification. Once the user's credentials are successfully validated, the swing barriers automatically retract, allowing smooth and secure access. If authentication fails, the gate remains locked to prevent unauthorized entry.
The entire system is seamlessly connected to ZKBio CVSecurity – ZKTeco’s centralized management platform, which enables building administrators to monitor access events in real-time, manage user permissions, store entry logs, and generate detailed reports when needed. This integrated solution not only enhances building security but also streamlines the access experience for staff and guests alike.
