The Dr. António Agostinho Neto International Airport is the new international airport of Luanda, located 40 km southeast of the capital city of Angola.

The airport is named after the first president of the Republic of Angola, symbolizing the Angolan people's remembrance and respect for their national hero. The airport is designed with dual runways and an annual  passenger capacity of 15 million. Upon completion, it will become one of the most important hub airports in Africa.

On November 10, 2023, the Dr. António Agostinho Neto International Airport held an opening ceremony in Luanda, the capital of Angola. The ceremony was hosted by the Angolan Ministry of Transport, with the participation of the President of Angola, João Lourenço, who unveiled the plaque for the new airport and announced the official launch of the airport's cargo operations.

Requirement – Effective Security Protection

Before the solution deployment, to maximize the efficiency of the security surveillance level, it was required to monitor all people accessing the control centre manually which not only certainly produces unimaginable cost in terms of both finance and human resources, but also causes huge inconvenience to airport operation staffs, cabin crews and efficiency to the actual operation of the Airport, as it is needed to stop everyone accessing the Airport to perform identity verification. Dr. António Agostinho Neto International Airport demanded a more efficient and actively responsive system to enhance the entire security level and efficiency of operation.

Apart from the massive passenger flow causing difficulty in manually monitoring, the size of the control centre of Dr. António Agostinho Neto International Airport is another big challenge. As there are numerous access points, it would also be inefficient to manually monitor all access points, to ensure a particular point is safe, staffs can only monitor and check in real person. In order to effectively enhance security level, it is required to have full understanding and information of every access point's status.

Solution Details

ZKTeco deployed an integrated solution of access control, video surveillance management and elevator control. ZKTeco deployed 326 units of ProID BM RFID Card Readers for the various locations that require access control. All Staffs are issued with their staff cards for the authentication of access. As all the readers are connected through the 2 units of InBio 160 Pro, 137 units of InBio 260 Pro, 32 Units of InBio460 Pro Access Controllers to the ZKBio CVSecurity Integrated Security Management Platform software, customized access control settings are enabled according to access areas and time zones. Anti-passback and interlock functioned are also enabled to prevent unauthorized access and exit.

For effective security protection, as the Airport already has effective video surveillance cameras and network video recorders, ZKTeco connected them to the ZKBio CVSecurity for better efficiency of cost. Security staffs of the Airport are enabled to real-time monitor all the camera screens through the installed TV wall  in split screens for complete security monitoring.

As the third-party video surveillance cameras are featured with multiple video analytic functions, such as line-crossing detection, in case any abnormality is detected by the video analytics, the video management system will  be triggered, and the ZKBio CVSecurity is able to instantly receive the signals from the cameras. Also, apart from the cameras, ZKBio CVSecurity are connected to all the devices including access control readers, sensors and alarms, they altogether create a multi-logic global-linkage. Once any of the devices has been triggered, the map of the Airport will be displayed on the ZKBio CVSecurity with pop-up location of the abnormality, real-time video stream will  also be shown, and 15 seconds pre-recording videoclipswill be automatically stored in the system. Furthermore, SMS and WhatsApp notiications to the security or any other dedicated users, once any alarm of abnormality is triggered.
