Client Overview
The rapid advancement of technology has brought about transformative changes in our lives, making smart devices an integral part of our daily routines. In education, smart devices have become key tools for enhancing teaching quality and learning efficiency. These devices not only facilitate interaction between teachers and students but also provide a diverse range of learning resources, ensuring that students are not limited by equipment constraints in realizing their potential.
Founded in 1983, ISD is a non-profit, independent, co-educational day school offering an enriched international educational program that reflects the diverse international backgrounds of its student body and faculty. ISD has a diverse, multicultural community with students from over 115 countries, and classes are offered from Pre-Kindergarten (3 years old) through Grade 12. ISD currently employs 97 full-time teachers, 82% of whom hold Master's degrees or higher, and 88% have over 10 years of teaching experience. With a challenging curriculum that serves students with a wide range of abilities, ISD aims to develop successful learners who have the courage to tackle complex problems and serve others.
Requirement
Existing Equipment Cannot Meet Educational Demands
ISD places a high value on students’ academic and personal development. In addition to implementing small class sizes, it applies technology both inside and outside the classroom to promote learning and creativity, including the use of iPads, Google Chromebooks, and students’ personalelectronic devices. The curriculum also encompasses programming, robotics, and 3D printing. It is evident that traditional teaching equipment has become inadequate to meet these educational needs. Although ISD classrooms are equipped with projectors, they present several limitations, such as:
Poor Picture Quality
Projectors work by projecting light onto a screen, which cannot compare to modern high-definition display devices. This projection method also limits contrast, resulting in distorted images.
Classroom Lighting Constraints
Projectors require all lights to be turned off for the image to be clear, which darkens the entire classroom and hinders teaching.
Limited Functionality
Unlike smart phones and tablets, projectors lack touch capabilities and interactive elements. They can only display content from connected devices and do not support a wide range of file formats or multimedia content as flexibly as smart devices. Moreover, they lack integration capabilities, limiting the diversity of teaching resources.
Solution Details
Considering ISD's educational needs, ZKTeco has installed the ZK-IWB86BM interactive touch screen in its classrooms to enhance teaching quality.
Advantages
True High-Definition Teaching
The ZKTeco ZK-IWB86BM screen delivers 4K ultra-HD quality with a resolution of 3840 × 2160 pixels and a 16:9 aspect ratio. It is equipped with a pair of 10W stereo speakers and a 15W subwoofer, capable of truly playing high-definition audio-visual content. Notably, the ZK-IWB86BM offers a wide viewing angle of 178°, minimizing color distortion from different viewing angles, making it suitable for multi-row audiences, which is perfect for classroom teaching. Additionally, its high brightness and contrast ensure a super-clear image without needing to darken the classroom, allowing students to view content comfortably. The high-strength explosion-proof glass provides protection without affecting viewing quality. Clear visuals help students better grasp complex concepts, especially in subjects like science and mathematics that require visual aids, achieving true high-definition teaching.
Flexible Multimedia Content Display
Although the ZKTeco ZK-IWB86BM features 4K ultra-HD quality similar to smart TVs, its functionality goes beyond that. With a multi-touch screen supporting up to 20 touch points, and powered by Cortex A73 and A53 quad-core processors, the interface is highly responsive with a reaction time of less than 10ms. It can be used with fingers or smart pens, allowing for flexible interaction similar to traditional classroom whiteboards. The high-strength explosion-proof glass is durable even with frequent touches. Unlike any whiteboard or projector, the ZK-IWB86BM’s whiteboard functionality allows educators to change backgrounds and pen colors at will, with a simple button to instantly clear the board, saving time compared to erasing. The screen can also be zoomed in and out, ensuring that students seated further away can clearly see the content. Additionally, it can capture screens like a smartphone for easy recording of teaching content. Educators can import files for teaching, such as preset basketball or soccer field backgrounds for physical education, musical scores for music classes, and even share different students' files, including playing movies or other audio-visual content.
True Interactive Teaching
The ZK-IWB86BM functions as a massive electronic whiteboard that combines the features of traditional whiteboards, smartphones, tablets, and smart TVs. With the AP6275P solution using the Intel (R) Wi-Fi 6 AX201 module, it can act as a Wi-Fi access point and hotspot, serving as the central wireless network hub. Other devices, such as student tablets like iPads and Google Chromebooks, as well as laptops and smartphones, can connect directly to the ZK-IWB86BM for data transfer and interaction. The ZK-IWB86BM can also share its network connection, allowing other smart devices to access the internet through it. Students can conveniently connect their devices for screen sharing and collaborative learning. Moreover, the ZK-IWB86BM is equipped with a high-definition camera and microphone, facilitating cross-media interaction, such as live streaming lessons to different classes or connecting for cross-class meetings.
